Show off your house's best side
It is estimated that more than 90% of people looking for a new house, starts by searching for a house on the internet.
They may use an estate agent's website, or browse through various sites listing private homes for sale. It is also said that first impressions last. So don't you think it is important to show off the best side of your house on any photo that is featured on a website. Many home owners rely on an estate agent, or someone with a mobile phone, to quickly snap a few pictures of your house, and quickly post it on the website. These photos could sometimes show your house's worst side, where bad lighting, vibration and movement actually ruin any shot of your house. It is sometimes only when viewed on the website that these problems can really be seen. |

The case for using a professional photographer to take photos of your house
So why should I use a professional photographer to photograph my house?
Well, apart from what was mentioned above, think about the following. You are competing against hundreds of other houses in a similar area, or similar price range. The buyer is looking for something special, so why not give him something unique to capture his attention?
Consider this. If you are selling your house for R500 000, a decent set of house photos could cost you R1500, or 0.3% of the value of your house. This is a very low cost for something that could make the difference between getting noticed (and sold), or not getting any interest at all. This cost is even lower for houses in the R1m and above category.

Some examples of our work
The image sets below show (left) a typical photograph of a room, taken without regard for lighting conditions and contrast in the room, and (right) the same room but using different lighting techniques to capture the atmosphere of the house.
In the picture above, the bright light in the window caused the exposure in the rest of the room to be under-exposed, or too dark. Room details are obscured and there is no sense of scale.
|
In the picture above, a variety of exposures were taken (for the highlights in the window and the dark areas in the room) and blended together to get a more even exposure of the room. Colours are preserved and the general view from the room is shown.
|
The general exposure in this photograph is much better than before, although it is not even throughout the photo. However, some of the best features of this room are hidden.
|
In this photo, the work area in the kitchen, and the stone fireplace are highlighted, thereby giving a much improved impression of these important features.
|
This photo is completely underexposed, mainly due to the large window on the right. The large window is actually a nice feature of this room, so how do you show this without compromising the rest of the image?
|
In this room photo, the highlights of the window is preserved, and the rest of the room is clear. You get a feel for the size of the room as well. Family pictures are blurred to preserve privacy.
|
This photo was taken using a typical standard camera lens. It does not give a very wide view of the room, and again, some details are lost due to exposure problems.
|
The same room as the one left, with the photographer standing at exactly the same spot, but this time using a wide angle lens, and a flash to light the foreground. The layout of the room is highlighted, as well as some textures on the floor.
